Donald Wayne Waldron

U.S. Veteran

Donald W. Waldron, age 71, of Newaygo passed away on Monday, December 16 2013 at his home with his family at his side. Don was born on April 16, 1942 in Chicago to Willard J. and Flora M. (Lehmann) Waldron and spent most of his childhood at Angel Guardian Orphanage in Chicago. Don married Janette I. Shelest on June 17, 1978 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Greenville and worked for Spartan Stores in Grand Rapids for 16 years. He later, and currently, was a truck driver for Koleaseco Inc. in Hudsonville. He proudly served his country during the Cold War in the Army 82nd Ariborne Division. Don was an adventurer, made stained glass mosaics, builder, and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed guns, horses, and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jan; children, Kimberly Waldron of Eugene, Oregon, Robin (Dave) Paulus of Custer, Kevin Waldron of Newaygo, and Josephine Waldron of New Hampshire; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; brother Ron (Sue) Waldron of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Don will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 1 – 6 PM at the Lion’s Den in White Cloud. Contributions in memory of Don may be made to the Waldron family.
