Cross, Hope Mercedes Johnson Booher

 

Hope Mercedes Johnson Booher Cross, age 86 of Hesperia, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont.  Hope was born on April 22, 1922 in Greenland, Michigan to Everette and Mabel (Johnson) Johnson.  When Hope was 2 years old her father passed away and her devoted stepfather, Clarence Pletcher raised Hope.  Hope attended and graduated from Hesperia High School.  Hope was one of the original “Rosie Riveter” while working at Continental Motors in Muskegon until her retirement in 1978.  After retirement she moved to Florida where she spent her retirement years.  Hope loved the retirement years in Florida and enjoyed traveling, playing the organ, attending theater productions, music and dancing.  Those that knew Hope also know she loved clothes and jewelry.

 

Hope will be greatly missed by her sister, Florence Anderson; her children, Furlo (Charles) Bengtsson; Kimba (Larry) Morse; Mikelene Booher all of Hesperia; her stepchildren, Darlene (Warren) Morgan of Florida; Ron (Julie) Cross of Hesperia; Tonya Dillenbeck of Sparta; her grandchildren, Tim Bengtsson; Shane (Lori) Morse; Brent (Kim) Morse; Trevor Morse; Sharie (Matt) Riemenschneider; Kaurie (Dan) Workman; Brad Cross; Josh Dillenbeck; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Perry Booher in 1976; her husband, Melvin Cross in 2003; 3 sisters, Crystal Arndsen; Barb Tanner; Honey Lou Hoenig; 4 brothers, Francis Blongie Pletcher; Carl Pletcher; George Pletcher; Vern Blongie Pletcher.

 

Following her wishes, there will be no services following cremation and interment will take place next to her husband Melvin in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Friends may consider the Perry Booher Scholarship Fund at the Hesperia Public Schools for memorial contributions in memory of Hope. To Mickey, Kimba & Furlo - My deepest sympathy to all of you on the loss of your mom.  I especially remember Hope for her fancy clothes and jewelry.  I always found her quite intriguing and thought of her as the “glamorous” grandma!!  All my love..
