Edwards, Ruby Pearl

 

Ruby Pearl Edwards, age 84 of Newaygo, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Spectrum Health, Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids following a short illness.  Ruby was born on January 19, 1924 in Rantoul, Illinois to Benjamin and Louise (Buker) Blue and moved to the Newaygo area at an early age.  Ruby married Jack K. Edwards on September 16, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah and Jack preceded her in death on April 17, 2006.  Ruby had worked at Dawes Fermentation Products in Newaygo and later became a dispatcher for the O & A Electric Company in Newaygo where she worked for many years until her retirement.  Ruby enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and cherished the time she would spend telling them stories about her life.  She and her husband, Jack also enjoyed traveling and spent the winter months in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

 

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Stan) Thomas of Newaygo; four grandchildren, Jaclyn (Eric) Nickel of Massanutten, Virginia; Alissa (John) Bull of Newaygo;  Keryl Grimard and fiancé, Neil Geers of Grant; Erica (Brian) Boyd of Newaygo; seven  great-grandchildren, Breanna Grimard, Kaela Grimard, Ryan Nickel, Kyle Nickel, Tyler Nickel, Shelby Boyd, and Jackson Boyd; her sister, Mariam Blue Olson of Battle Creek; her brothers, August “Bud” (Betty) Blue of Union City, Michigan; Kenneth “Duke” (Elaine) Blue of Augusta, Michigan; many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Louise Blue; her brothers, Chester, Ted, Joe, infant brother, John Blue and by her sister, Opal Anderson. 

 

Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Newaygo United Methodist Church with Rev. Patricia Bromberek of the Newaygo United Methodist Church presiding with interment in the Newaygo Cemetery.  Friends may consider the Newaygo United Methodist Church Roof Improvement Fund for memorial contributions in memory of Ruby.  Friends may send a condolence or share a memory with the Edwards family online at www.crandellfh.com.  Arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel.

Bonnie & Stan...I just returned home from Florida and catching up, read that you mom passed away. I am so sorry.  I remember well riding horses at her stable oh-so-many-years ago.  The last horse I rode there was named Joker and he kept falling asleep...going slower and slower until a small hill or rise would stop him completely. Good memories of your mom and her horses.
