Dear Family~
Gone.....
But definitely never forgotten!!

Before we brought our children home from Haiti...... when Dave was still coming to Prayer meeting at church - Jean brought one of her Daycare children to church (she was African-american).  Uncle Dave grinned at her and us and started to say ....."Oh, you got her!".   ( He knew we were waiting and was thinking maybe it was Berline).  Jean was sad to tell him "No, not yet"....and that "This was a daycare child"!

I regret that I don't know that Uncle Dave maybe never knew that we did finally get the children!
But......we made sure our children knew who Uncle Dave was!!!!!

John and I truly loved and appreciated Uncle Dave!!  (and we are sure Kenny and Berline would have too if they would have had opportunity to know him when he was well!)

May you each be drawn close to God in the coming days.  He is faithful!
Love and Prayers,
      John, jean, Kenny and Berline

Dear Barb,

This is Marilyn Huisjen Smidt and my cousin, Carl, told me he had read about Dave’s passing. My Mom, Connie, is 95 and lives at Sunset Manor in Jenison. My sister, Nancy, lives in Grandville with her family. My husband and I live in Ada.

I just wanted to send a note to you and send our sympathy on your loss. I still have very kind memories of you and Dave when you worked for my Dad.

Sincerely,

Marilyn
