Scanlon, Eloda C.
Eloda C. Scanlon, age 80 of Holton, passed away Monday morning, December 24, 2007 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Eloda was born on October 16, 1927 to Arthur and Ruth (Noble) Syers in Holton and grew up in the home of Harrison and Viola Cregg and later married Eugene Paul Scanlon on June 27, 1947 in Muskegon. Eloda has been a lifelong resident of the Holton area where she was one of the founding members of the Holton Historical Society, a member of the Friends of the Library in Holton, a member of the Thursday Lunch Group and member of the Holton United Methodist Church. Eloda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, was a magical cook, enjoyed puzzles, playing cards and other games, golfing, crocheting and knitting. She had worked as a certified nurse’s aid at the Newaygo Medical Facility in Fremont for 18 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul of Holton; her children, Gary (Karen) Scanlon of Brighton, MI; Althea Stevens of Muskegon; Diane (Gerald) Beattie of Holton; Pamela (Steve) Smith of Holton; her grandchildren, Becky (Brent) Deur of Fremont; Christy (Brian) Schaub of Muskegon; Nicole Sands of Overland Park, Kansas; Karlyn (Howard) DeGram of Grand Haven; Michael (Shannon) Scanlon stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Sembach, A.B. in Germany; Kendra (Justin) Wilson of Whitehall; Blake Smith of Holton; 10 great grandchildren, Logan, Peyton, Jaxon, Drew, Tyler, Luke, Ava, Brent, Emma, Gabrielle; many close cousins and friends and 1 brother. She was preceded in death by her son, Brent C. Scanlon in 1988 and 2 sisters and 1 brother.
VISITATION : Thursday 6-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday at 2pm at the Holton United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : Oakwood Cemetery in Holton. I have many fond memories of
Eloda when we worked together for 10 years at the Facility.
She was admired and respected by many. May her
family find comfort in knowing others care.
