Scott, Karen J.
Karen J. Scott, age 70 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Monday at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Karen was born on Oct. 31, 1938 in North Muskegon to James Wesley and Cora Alice (Reed) Burns and graduated from North Muskegon High School in 1957. Karen started work as a telephone operator in North Muskegon and later operated a successful hog farm until her retirement from farming in 1993. Karen loved art of all kinds, charcoal drawing and painting and a constant in Karen’s life was learning throughout her entire life. She especially treasured her time being a grandmother to her 5 grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of Shirley “Lee” (Tom) Roe of Cascade; Leon (Brenda) Scott of Fremont; her grandchildren, Leah Scott; Sarah Scott; Alyssa Scott; Peter Roe; Kelsey Roe; her brother, Theodore (Karen) Burns and sister, Geraldine (Ralph) Gibbs both of North Muskegon; ˝ brother, James Burns Jr. and ˝ sister, Janet Williams both of Muskegon; former husband, James Scott of Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Hassee.
VISITATION : Thursday from 5-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Thursday at 7pm at the funeral home. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Fremont Area Community Foundation for the Newaygo County Council for the Arts – Arts Place.
