Darline B. Short, age 77 of Holton, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Trinity Health Mercy Campus in Muskegon. Darline was born on April 8, 1947 in Traverse City to Alva John and Edna May (Sikorski) Rinard and later married Theodore Short on December 7, 1963. Ted preceded her in death on November 29, 1994. Darline has been a longtime resident of the Holton area where she had been a homemaker. Darline was an Elder in the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and was a member of the Holton American Legion Auxiliary where she enjoyed volunteering. Darline enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, watching crime television, playing bingo, shopping with her sister, Judy, crafts, making and donating blankets to veterans.
Darline is survived by her children, Theodore Short of Hesperia; Debbie Short of Hesperia; Rebecca Short of South Bend; Melinda Short of Cleveland, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; her mother, Edna Rinard; her sister, Judy Snow of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews. Darline was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie Ann Short; her father, Alva John Rinard; her sisters, Alice Schneider; Martha Demmen, Janice Rinard, and Karen Alther; her brother, Alva Rinard.
