Obituary

Allen, A. Wilson Wilson Allen, age 80 of Hesperia, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Wilson was born on October 23, 1924 in Walled Lake, Michigan, to Archibald Robert and Ruth Z. (Harger) Allen and graduated from Williamston High School in 1943. He married his first wife, Beulah Joyce Ross on June 16, 1946, and she preceded him in death on April 19, 1972. He later met and married Johanna Maria Salvati on April 11, 1981 in Lake City, Michigan. Wilson has been a resident of the Hesperia area since 1975 when he moved from the Williamston area. He had been a member of the Williamston Masonic Lodge and transferred to the Hesperia Arcana Lodge #346 where he was Past Master of the Lodge. He was also a Royal Arch Mason from the Newaygo Lodge. Wilson served during World War II in the United States Merchant Marine. He was a devoted farmer and loved working the land. He is survived by his wife, Johanna of Hesperia; his children, Keith (Carol) Allen of Lynnville, Tennessee; Russell (Judy) Allen of Clare, Michigan; Kevin (Linda) Allen of Hesperia; Barbara (Bill) Frank of Eau Claire, Michigan; Ruth (Charles) Lathrop of Fremont; his stepchildren, Karen (Jim) Ackroyd of Big Rapids; David (Becky) Salvati of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Marc (Brenda) Salvati of Valley Center, Kansas; Bryce (Elaine) Salvati of Stanwood; Eric (Reyne) Salvati of Morley; Keith (Lisa) Salvati of Stevensville, Michigan; Kirk Salvati of Newaygo; 33 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildre. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Clark William Allen and Edwin Mark Allen; 1 grandson, Robert Allen; ; 1sister Joyce Bullis; 2 brothers Irwing Allen and Robert Allen. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at 7 p.m. (visitation 4-7 p.m.) from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Rev. Pamela Miller of the Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Big Rapids, presiding, with Masonic Services being conducted by the Hesperia Arcana Lodge #346. Masonic graveside services were held at 11:00 am from the Summit Cemetery in Williamston, Michigan, on Friday, by the Williamston Masonic Lodge. Friends are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association and also the American Heart Association for memorial contributions in memory of Wilson.
