Ada Lovisa Ulrey, age 96 of White Cloud, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Ada was born on September 4, 1911 in Hesperia to Charlie and Allie (Sabin) Knapp. Ada met and later married William H. Barney Barnhill in 1931 in Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1950. She later married Harold L. Ulrey in 1953 in Illinois and he preceded her in death in 1982. Ada had worked at Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon for a couple of years during the war and had owned and operated several fruit stands in Muskegon Heights for several years. Ada moved to Sault Saint Marie, Michigan from Muskegon Heights and later moved to White Cloud in 1982. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, crocheting and knitting, taking care of her snoopy and driving her car. She had also been active at the Newaygo County Commission on Aging activities. She is survived by her children, William C. Barnhill of Indianapolis, Indiana; Jack (Dolores) Barnhill of White Cloud; Barbara Trosclair of White Cloud; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; her sister, Clara Gary of Whitehall; her companion Ginger. She was preceded in death by her husband, William and Harold; by her son, Richard Barnhill in 1963; an infant daughter, Arlene Barnhill; her grand daughter, Debra Chupp in 2001; and by her brothers and sisters, Grace Rice, Nettie Frees, Robert Knapp, Vaughn Knapp, Elwin Knapp. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from the 7th Day Baptist Church in White Cloud with Rev. Bernie Wethington presiding. Interment was in the Mona View Cemetery in Muskegon. Friends may consider the American Cancer Society for memorial contributions in memory of Ada.
