Rhoads, Adelbert H. "Punk" Adelbert H. Punk Rhoads, age 88 of Muskegon, formerly of Holton, passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Harbor Hospice Leila & Cyrus Poppen Residence in Muskegon. Punk was born on November 24, 1918 in Holton to Frank and Nina (Lilly) Rhoads and later married Agnes Staples on April 25, 1944 in Nebraska. Punk has been a lifelong resident of the area where he owned and operated Franks Place Gas Station in Holton and later became a rural mail carrier for the Holton Post Office until his retirement in 1972. Punk served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Holton American Legion, Cobb, Trygstad, Anderson Post #397 and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Punk was also a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association; enjoyed fishing and hunting and playing cards. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Agnes of Muskegon; children, Rick (Marge) Rhoads of Grand Rapids; Alvin (Patty) Rhoads of Midland; Colleen (Jim) Ware of Muskegon; grandchildren, Iris (Nick) Elko; Debbie Palmer; Tammy (Keith) Stephenson; Jonathan Rhoads; Andrea (Matt) Alderink; Chris Ware; great grandchildren, McKinley Palmer; Alex & Kaitlyn Elko; Colby & Chloe Stephenson; Jake Alderink; his sister, Angeline (Floyd) Cobb of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Hogan and infant son; sister, Adeline Szucs; brother, Elmer Rhoads. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Pastor Robert Melton of the Christian Fellowship Church in Muskegon presiding with interment and military rites given by the Holton American Legion Post #397 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Holton.
