Agnes Christine Rhoads, age 99 of Muskegon, formerly of Holton, went to be with Jesus and her heavenly family on December 11, 2022. Agnes was born on April 2, 1923 in Mears, Michigan to Hiram and Annie (Kemmell) Staples. She attended a one room country school house and later graduated from Hart High School. She later met her future husband, Adelbert Howard Rhoads on a blind date and they married on April 25, 1944 in Nebraska. Adelbert preceded her in death on May 14, 2007. Agnes had lived most of her married life in Holton and moved to Muskegon in 1999. She had been a postal worker at the Holton Post Office for many years until her retirement and was a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary. Agnes loved cooking, baking, camping, knitting and crocheting, and visiting with friends as she was a people person, playing cards and working puzzles. Agnes truly treasured her family and spending time with them throughout her lifetime. She will be missed by all and especially her contagious laugh. Agnes is survived by her daughter, Colleen (James) Ware of Muskegon; her son, Alvin (Patti) Rhoads of Midland, Michigan; grandchildren, Iris (Nick) Elko; Deborah Ratliff; Tammy (Keith) Stephenson; Christine (Matt) Strait; Laura (significant other, Billy) Colburn; Brian Ware; Jonathan (Christine) Rhoads; Andrea (Matt) Aldrink; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Donna Dunbar and Laura Gansbauer. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Adelbert, her parents, Hiram and Annie Staples; her son, Richard Rhoads; 14 sisters and brothers – Victor, Vincent, Milan, Archie, Earl, Katherine, Tressa, Marle, Margie, Irma, Mercedies, Dorothy, Josephine, and Blanche. VISITATION : Friday, December 16, 2022 from 10am – 12pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, December 16, 2022 at 12pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Oakwood Cemetery in Holton.
