IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alan Michael
Bleiler
October 31, 1953 – July 1, 2025
Alan Michael Bleiler of White Cloud, Michigan, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 71 years of age. Born in Fremont, Michigan on October 31, 1953, Alan was a gentle, devoted and loving husband to Millie (Pettit) Bleiler and was married on May 21, 1994 (they recently celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary).
As a child, Al was the third in line of four children. Like most kids of the 1960s, Al loved playing outdoors with his brothers and sister, as well as close-knit neighbors and friends. He especially enjoyed swimming almost every summer day at the Mill Pond, Robinson Lake or Lake Michigan. He was a gifted baseball player, playing in little league, pony league, and throughout high school. Coach Thorington often quipped, "Al was one of the few players I've known who could stretch a solidly hit triple into a sliding double." His speed notwithstanding, Al was very accomplished at fielding and hitting. He also contributed as equipment manager for White Cloud High School basketball and football teams.
Al was an accomplished cornet player in the White Cloud High School band, and developed a beautiful tenor voice, performing in several singing groups throughout high school—and continued to perform as an adult in the White Cloud Singers, Newaygo County Community Singers, Lionheart Productions, Stage Door Players, and several other concert productions and plays as well. Al loved Mackinac Island, working summers during his junior and senior years at May's Fudge Shop, and even spending some time there as an adult with his beloved Millie.
To describe Al's character in one word, it would have to be "happy." He had an infectious sense of humor, and loved to make others laugh and enjoy his presence. He thoroughly enjoyed watching Michigan Football, playing euchre, bowling, and even enjoying game shows and Bob Ross Painting shows on TV.
For more than 30 years, he worked as a graphic designer and printer for Gerber Baby Foods and developed considerable computer skills as the industry changed to digitized printing. Like his father, he was a competent and skillful printer for many years. Al also enjoyed his leisure time away from work, as an avid golfer playing in several golf leagues, and travelling...not only to Mackinac Island, New Orleans and cruising to Alaska with Millie, but road trips out west with his closest buddies.
Al had a most loving heart and brought joy into the hearts of everyone he met. He and Millie have been members of the Seventh Day Baptist Church for several years and Al served the church faithfully as a trustee and media specialist. He worshipped the Lord regularly, as well as attending Sabbath School, Friday night bible study, and Prayer and Praise services.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Everett Bleiler, and by his sister Cathy Cruzan. He is survived by his loving wife Millie (née Cowley) Bleiler, brothers Steve Bleiler (Mary) and Roger Bleiler (LuAnne); stepson Joshua Pettit (Jennifer); step-grandchildren Cody Roberts (Adrienne), Cameron Roberts (Brittany), Christian Roberts, Cyle Pettit (Cassidy), and Kaylee Pettit; and step-great-grandchildren Amariah, Emory, Nizhoni, Yanaba, Sophia, and Olivia; as well as several nieces and nephews.
