Obituary

Alan Joppich died peacefully in his home in Hesperia, Michigan on November 16, 2008, surrounded by his family. Born in Ocqueoc, Michigan on November 13, 1942, Mr. Joppich was a lifelong resident of Onaway, having relocated to Hesperia upon his retirement to be nearer to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his sons Mitch and wife Jeanne, Matt and wife Deanna and daughter Missy and husband Damian. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law Virginia Mieler. Alan was blessed to have eight loving grandchildren: Sierra, Ashley, Jake, Benjamin, Ellie Jo, Amelia, Emma Grace and Abigail. He was preceded in death by his father Harry, mother Christine, sister, Diane and father-in-law Robert Mieler. Mr. Joppich was employed by Presque Isle Electric and Gas Cooperative for over 45 years where he had many friends. Alan loved the outdoors and spent his spare time fishing and hunting with his family. Mr. Joppich was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church, where he was a member of the St. Pauls Mens Club, Knights of Columbus and was at one time, the church organist. He was active in his childrens activities having coached for many years in the Onaway Area Little League. Mr. Joppich was also a founding member of the Community First Fund. Alan was instrumental in establishing the first PIE&G American Cancer Society Relay for Life team in 1998. MEMORIAL MASS SERVICES : Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 12pm at Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia. INTERMENT : Christ The King Catholic Cemetery in Hesperia. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : American Cancer Society, C/O Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-Op Relay For Life.
