Albert "Gene" Eugene Gibson, age 81, of Fremont passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Regency at Fremont. Albert was born on September 13, 1942, in McGuffey, Ohio to Albert Erwin and Mary Maxine (Evans) Gibson and married Susan "Ginger" Sharp on January 3, 1966, in Newaygo.

Albert proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant after over 23 years of service. Basic training and AIT Armor School Ft Knox KY., 4th Infantry Division Ft Carson CO., 3rd Armored Division Ayers Kaserne at Kirch-Goens, Germany, 5th Infantry Division Ft Polk LA., 32nd AADCOM Cambrai-Fritsch Kaserne Darmstadt Germany, US Army Liaison Office to the Michigan National Guard, Lansing MI, Marksman Badge (M1 Garand), Sharpshooter Badge (M1 Carbine), 4 Army Commendation Medals, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 2 National Defense Service Medals, 6 Army Good Conduct Medals

Albert enjoyed woodworking and time in his wood shop. He loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting, and cherished his time with family.

Albert is survived by his loving wife, Ginger; children, Cherie Nauta of Fremont and Albert "Al" Eugene (Amanda) Gibson Jr. of Florida; grandchildren, Brian (Jasmine) Murray, David Gibson, Michael Gibson, Cliff Gibson, Kiara Gibson, Bradly (Shelby) Benham, Franklin Nauta, and Gabrielle Nauta; greatgrandchildren, Jakiyah Hills, Kaitlyn Murray, Bailey Murray,  Sidney Marie Benham, Hunter Benham, and Savannah Benham; brothers and sister, Jerry (Kay) Gibson, Ronald (Sharon) Gibson, and Judy (Forrest) Herzog. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Marie Gibson; brothers and sister, Raymond Peterson, Jim Peterson, and Carolyn Fowler; and son-in-law, Daniel C. Nauta.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Inspire Church in Fremont. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Grant.
