Burns, Aldolphus L. Adolphus Al L. Burns, age 102 of White Cloud, passed away Friday, November 27, 2002 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont . He was born on April 14, 1900 in Hunstville , Missouri to Lee and Bina Mae (Payne) Burns and moved to Detroit in 1924 and later to White Cloud in 1966 after his retirement. He married his wife, Mary Alice in 1927 and she preceded him in death on December 14, 1954 . He later married Thelma Daugherty on July 6, 1957 in Detroit and she also preceded him in death on December 6, 1997 . Al had worked for the State of Michigan in the Secretary of State Division where he started as an information officer and in 1938 was promoted to Manager. He was one of the first black managers of a Secretary of State office and managed 2 different locations before his retirement in May 1966. He is survived by one nephew, Fredrick Jackson of Pontiac and several friends in the White Cloud area. Interment is in Detroit next to his first wife, Mary Alice following cremation.
