Chamberlain, Alice M. Alice M. Chamberlain, age 92 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004 at her home following a long illness. Alice was born on July 30, 1911 in Omaha, Nebraska to Lacy W. and Violet Ilene (MacDonald) Taylor and later married Nels Chamberlain on June 28, 1934 in Fremont. Nels preceded her in death on September 13, 1965. Alice grew up in Avon Park, Florida until age 17 when she moved with her family to Fremont and later graduated from Fremont High School. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the many books at the Newaygo Carnegie Library. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a excellent indoor flower gardener, was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and had worked at Gerber Products Company for a short period of time. She is survived by her children, Judith (William) Anderson of Grant; Robert (Patricia) Chamberlain of Lexington, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Melissa (Brian) Beeg of Rockford; Bryan (Cindy) Saum of Comstock Park; Amy (Todd) Putnam of Bloomfield Hills; her great grandchildren, Andrew, Natalie, Michael, Mitchell, and Madeline; her brother, Lacy D. (Ellen) Taylor of Barnardsville, North Carolina; 2 nieces and 3 nephews; her sister-in-law, Flora Chamberlain of Fremont; many special friends and caregivers she has made during her long illness. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with funeral Celebrant Curt A. Crandell and the Alice M. Chamberlain family presiding with interment in the Newaygo Cemetery. Friends may consider the Newaygo Carnegie Library for memorial contributions in memory of Alice.
