Alice Chapman, age 89 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Alice was born on June 26, 1921 in Bitely, Michigan to George and Hilda (Windquist) Cousineau and married Vergil Chapman on July 15, 1939 in Muskegon. Vergil preceded her in death on April 12, 2003. Alice has been a lifelong resident of the northern Newaygo County area where she had been a homemaker. Alice had been a member of the Bitely Brohman Community Club. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Hutson of White Cloud; Marva Gray of Lake City; her daughter-in-law, Dixie Chapman of Fremont; 9 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; her sister, Agnes Hornsby of Bitely; and by her brother, Ralph (Florence) Cousineau of Bitely. She was preceded in death by her son, Roy Chapman on July 8, 1992; and by her brothers, Leonard Cousineau, George Cousineau and Raymond Cousineau. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Whipple Cemetery near Paris, Michigan where Alice will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.
