Obituary

Alice I. Johnson-Carpp, age 79 of Holton, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at her home. Alice was born on May 18, 1932 in Hastings, Michigan to Edwin and Mabel (Condon) Ransom and moved to the Holton area at the age of 16. Alice married Homer Johnson and he preceded her in death. She later married Willard Carpp and he preceded her in death. Alice had been a Nurses Aid at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility and later retired from the Muskegon County Mental Retardation Center. Alice was a founding member of the Holton Church of God where she had been an active member and taught Sunday school to many children, including her grandchildren. Alice enjoyed traveling, playing the piano and reading her Bible. Alice is survived by her children, Homer L. Johnson of Muskegon; Candice Applegate of Holton; Randy (Patricia) Johnson of Reeds Spring, Missouri; Robert Johnson of Holton; Rex (Sue) Johnson of Twin Lake; Luke (Datalena) Johnson of Cedar Springs, currently working in Portugal; 61 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; her brother, John (Chris) Ransom of Mason, Michigan; Helen of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Ann and by her sister, Zella Johnson. VISITATION : Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 4-6pm at the Holton Church of God. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 6pm at the Holton Church of God. INTERMENT : Oakwood Cemetery in Holton. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : to the Johnson-Carpp family to assist with expenses.
