Alice Marie Maynard, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Bluewater Hospice Home on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. From her birth on October 24, 1940, to her last breath, Alice nourished those around her with love, laughter, and delicious homemade recipes. She was born on a Newaygo farm, one of eight children, to Charles and Edith (Howard) Cook. Alice later met and married her first love, Elden Maynard, on January 26, 1957. Elden and Alice raised a beautiful family together that was the center of her world. Celebrating the achievements and milestones of her family was a light of her life - and for friends and family alike, Alice was the brightest part of so many memories. Alice's favorite times were spent at the Moose playing darts with close friends, poker nights with family, and baking her famous banana bread for all to enjoy. She will forever be remembered as the matriarch of the Maynard family, with her beautifully infectious smile, glamorous style, and quick wit. Those left to cherish Alice's memory are her children; Diana Reynolds, Brian (Lisa) Maynard, Douglas (Julie) Maynard, Elden (Jillian) Maynard Jr, and grandchildren; Matthew Reynolds, Travis (Lisa) Maynard, Mandy (Rob) Daugherty, Ryan Maynard, Steven (Jennifer) Maynard, Michelle (David Dunphy) Maynard, Brittany Maynard, Elden Maynard III, and great-grandchildren; Tiffany Daugherty, Adriana Daugherty, Kenzie Maynard, Becca Maynard, her brother; Raymond Cook. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Elden Maynard, and her brothers and sisters; John Cook, Chuck Cook, Arlene Beeler, Eleanor Durham, Beatrice "Tiny" Cook, and George "Stub" Cook.
