Alma May Ridderman, age 93, of Fremont passed away Friday, June 29, 2001, at Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. She was born on May 6, 1908, in Fremont to James and Minnie (Page) Rockel. Alma married Ben Ridderman on May 15, 1926, in Muskegon. Ben preceded her in death on September 13, 1970. Alma was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star and a Past District President. She worked at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility until her retirement. She is survived by her son Leroy and daughter-in-law Dohree of Millwalkie, Oregon; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. One son, Duane preceded her in death in 1985. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with Rev. Bertrum Vermeulen presiding and Eastern Star Services by the Newaygo Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. Interment was in Newaygo Cemetery.
