Alva John Rinard, age 68 of Holton, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Grand Oaks Nursing Center in Baldwin following a short illness. Alva was born on November 19, 1949 in Traverse City to Alva and Edna M. (Sikorski) Rinard and graduated from Holton High School. Alva joined the United States Army after graduation and served during the Vietnam War. Alva had been a roofer in construction for many years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and car racing. Alva was a member of the Holton American Legion Post #397 where he had been a volunteer for many activities and was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.
Alva is survived by his mother, Edna of Holton; his sisters, Judith Snow of Fremont; Darlene Short of Holton; Karen Alther of Interlochen; many nieces and nephews. Alva was preceded in death by his father, Alva Rinard; his sisters, Martha Demmen; Alice Schneider and Janice Rinard.
VISITATION : Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 1-2pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with MILITARY HONORS under the auspices of the Holton American Legion Post #397. INTERMENT : Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Holton American Legion.
