Arden A Mercer, age 85 of Fremont, formerly of Kent City/Ravenna area passed away on December 8, 2021 at his home following a short illness. Arden was born on November 10, 1936 in Edmore, Michigan to Arthur A and Ethel M (Lillie) Mercer and later married Erva G Barber on 6/27/1957. Arden owned and operated Mercer Construction. He was a talented carpenter and industrial cabinet maker until his retirement. Arden is survived by his wife, Erva of Fremont; his children, John (Steve Bowman) of Muskegon; Constance (Tim) Price of Grant; Laura (Scott) Kolkman of Ravenna; his grandchildren, Sarah, Beth, Anna, Nick, Lisa, Kristi, Jamie and Jesse; 13 great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Ina Bell of Grand Rapids; Donald Mercer of Twin Lake; Kathryn Pulsipher of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews. Arden was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Donna Stevens, Clarence (Bill) Mercer, Grace Maitland, Michael Mercer. Following Arden's wishes, private family services will be held at a later date in Chubbuck Cemetery in Tyrone Twp, Kent City.
