Arthur Pete D. Kroepel, age 87 of Hesperia, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at his home. Pete was born on December 22, 1924 in Hesperia to Dayton and Mary (Morse) Kroepel and later married Ida Grace Fox on January 26, 1946 in Hesperia. Ida preceded him in death on July 6, 2009. Pete has been a lifelong resident of the Hesperia area where he had owned and operated Kroepel Construction in Hesperia until his retirement in 1984 and could make anything out of wood. Pete attended Dublin one room school with James Earl Jones in his younger years. Pete had served on the Hesperia Fire Department, served on the Hesperia Village Council; was a founding member of the Hesperia Sportsmans Club; and was a founder of the Northwood Golf Course. Pete also enjoyed fishing, hunting and vegetable gardening and taking care of his yard. Pete was well known for being a Hesperia Historian and knew much of the history of the town and community members. Pete is survived by his daughters, Lyndy (Wayne) Wygant of Hesperia; Sandy (Sonny) Kroepel of Hesperia; his grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Kroepel of Hesperia; Stephanie (Larry) Schmitz of Hesperia; Tisha (Ray) Wilder of Hesperia; 8 great grandchildren, Meradith Grace; Gavin; Riese; Camilla Grace; Hudson; Avery; Emersyn and Oakley; his sister, Arlene (Ken) Kies of Hesperia; sister-in-law, Gladys Kroepel of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lyle Kroepel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 1-3pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with MEMORIAL SERVICES at 3pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the spring at the East Hesperia Cemetery. Friends may consider the American Cancer Society for memorial contributions in memory of Pete for memorial contributions.
