Obituary

Arthur Faber, age 92 of White Cloud, formerly of Jenison, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following a slow decline in his health. Art was born on July 5, 1928 in Doone, Iowa to Frank W. and Antonia (Bonestra) Faber and later met and married Virginia "Ginny" K. Meeter on December 1, 1951 in Grand Rapids. Ginny preceded him in death on June 6, 2019. Art had been an electrician and carpenter and later worked as a Sales Representative for Monumental Life Insurance Company for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. Art and Ginny started building a weekend home in White Cloud and moved permanently to the White Cloud area in 1991 from Jenison. Art was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church and the White Cloud Eagles. Art served in the United States Navy during the World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #179 in Grandville. Art enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening and collecting antiques. Art is survived by his children, Brenda Young of Crystal Falls, MI; Dean Faber of Grant; Craig (Barbara) Faber of Fruitport; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Kyle) Detterbeck; Jessica Young; step grandchild and great grandchild, Michelle (Ryan) Sterley and son, Hunter; his son-in-law, Dave Wangerin; his sister, Nellie VanSprange; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" his daughter, Carey Lynn Wangerin; his sisters, Jenny Klaver, Freda Faber, Betty Bowkamp, Francis "Fran" Schripsema, Anne "Ann" Zuideeveen; Harriet Cooper, and Evelyn Cornelisse; his brothers, Willie Faber, Theodore "Ted" Faber, Gerald "Jerry" Faber, William "Bill" Faber. VISITATION : Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 1-2pm at Lincoln Township Cemetery 3198 W. 3 Mile Road White Cloud MI 49349. MILITARY HONORS : Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 2pm at the Lincoln Township Cemetery followed by GRAVESIDE SERVICES at the Cemetery. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the White Cloud United Methodist Church for memorial contributions in memory of Art. Directions to Cemetery - From Grand Rapids - M37 North to M20 West. Turn left on M20 towards Hesperia and travel 6 Miles to Wisner Avenue. Turn Right on Wisner Avenue and travel 2 miles to stop sign (3 Mile Road). Turn Left on 3 Mile Road and travel 1/2 mile to cemetery at the top of the hill and before curve in road.
