Arthur L. Gilbert, age 84 of Hesperia, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the home of his niece, Cindy (Bruce) Diebel in Muskegon. Arthur was born on March 12, 1928 to Leon and Beulah (Wells) Gilbert had had been a farmer in the Fremont and Hesperia area for many years until his retirement. After retirement, Art then worked for Beattie Farms in Holton for several years. Arthur was an avid hunter and had traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world on hunting trips. Art served in the United States Army during the Korean War when he was honorably discharged in 1953. Arthur is survived by his brother-in-law, Dale Timmich of Rothbury; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Timmich and Eleanor Allen and by his brother, Howard Gilbert. A time of remembrance will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 7-9pm at the Crandell Funeral Home with a Celebration of Arts Life at 8:30pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel.
