Aubrey "Jake" V. Vining, age 91 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Corewell Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Jake was born on May 2, 1931 in Grand rapids to William H. and Luella Sarah (Kitchen) Vining and grew up in Grand Rapids and met and later married Irene F. Buczynski on October 6, 1951 in Grand Rapids. Irene preceded him in death on August 23, 1997. Jake joined the United States Air Force where he served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War until his honorable discharge and was a Life Member of the Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsman's Post #4249. Jake had worked for General Motors – Alpine Avenue Plant for 30 years until his retirement as a hi-low operator. Jake was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church in White Cloud and held his faith in high regards and often talked to people about his faith. Jake had enjoyed golfing, fishing, deer and rabbit hunting in his younger years, traveling and spending time in the Upper Peninsula near Munising and Christmas, playing horseshoes, crossword puzzles and was a lifelong Michigan State University fan and enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers. Jake is survived by his children, Aubrey "Yogi" (Kim) Vining; Terry (Michelle) Vining; Cindy (Lorne) Ritola; Gail (Rick) Booth; Linda Vining; Karen (Rich) Miller; Sharon (Bill) Altman; Sandra (Matt) Stoner; Cristy Shelton; Debra (Joe) Bowers; 28 grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Vining; many nieces and nephews. Jake was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ed Alofs; grandsons, Jay Leece and Ben Vining; his daughter-in-law, Diane Shelton; 6 brothers and 1 sister.
