Axel J. Shavalier, age 70 of Newaygo, formerly of White Cloud, passed away, Monday, March 18, 2019 at his home following a short illness. Axel was born on September 14 1948 in Ravenna Township to Axel and Helen Margaret Dell-Fisher. Axel had been a truck driver for R & C Redi Mix in Ensley Center, Briggs Lumber Company and Karnemaat Farms for 20 years and then owned and operated Shavalier Sawmill until 1999. Axel enjoyed trout fishing and was a member of the White Cloud Church of God Ministry Center in White Cloud. On February 13, 1998, Axel married Nancy Richardson in White Cloud. Axel is survived by his wife, Nancy of Newaygo; his daughter, Sunny Shavalier of Hesperia; step children, Robert (Shawna) Engel of Mishawaka, Indiana; Kimberly (Donnie) Roland of Rockwall, Texas; David Richardson of Georgia; his grandson, Axel James Shavalier of Freeport, Michigan; several step grandchildren. Axel was preceded in death by his son, Tony Shavalier on February 6, 2019 and by his step son, Bradley Richardson. Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11am with a visitation with the family from 10-11am at the White Cloud Church of God Ministry Center in White Cloud with Pastor Jim Fader presiding.
