Barbara Jean (Vining) Alofs, age 66 of White Cloud, passed away Friday surrounded by her family on February 5, 2021 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Barbara was born on February 10, 1954 in Grand Rapids to Aubrey and Irene (Buczynski) Vining and graduated from White Cloud High School in 1972. Barbara later met and married Edwin Lee Alofs on November 2, 1990 in White Cloud. Ed preceded her in death on November 19, 2006. Barbara has been a lifelong resident of the White Cloud area where she was an active member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church and loved old gospel music. Barbara had worked as a production worker at Pridgeon and Clay Stamping in Grand Rapids for over 25 years. Barbara liked listening to and watching the Detroit Tigers but especially treasured the time she spent with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children, Brian (Anna) Vining of White Cloud; Megan Alofs of White Cloud; Timmy Alofs of White Cloud; step children, Christopher Alofs of Byron Center; Michael (Pam) Alofs of Byron Center; her father, Aubrey "Jake" Vining of White Cloud; her sisters and brothers, Aubrey (Kim) Vining of Florida; Terry (Michelle) Vining of White Cloud; Cindy (Lorne) Ritola of Wyoming; Gail (Rick) Booth of White Cloud; Linda Vining of White Cloud; Karen (Rich) Miller of Fremont; Sharon (Bill) Altman of White Cloud; Sandra (Matt) Stoner of White Cloud; Cristy Shelton of White Cloud; Debra (Joe) Bowers of Howard City; Paula Burger Vining of Florida; many nieces and nephews and even more great nieces and great nephews; and great great nieces and great great nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Alofs; by her mother, Irene Vining; nephews, Benjamin Vining and Larry J. Leese; sister-in-law, Diane Shelton.
A private visitation will be held for the family with a private graveside service in April 2021 at the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery in White Cloud. A larger CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will be held in May or June 2021 in White Cloud with the dates, times, and location to be determined and posted to this web page.
