Barbara Critz Cassidy, age 86 of Fremont, Michigan formerly of Monticello, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Barbara was born on January 27, 1921 in Kansas City, Kansas to Critz and Marjorie (Morrison) Brown and later married Dr. Donald Cassidy on March 15, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Donald Cassidy preceded her in death in 2002. Barbara graduated from Parsons College with degrees in music education and taught school in Wapello, Iowa. She worked in partnership with her husband in his veterinary practice for 36 years. Barbara was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Monticello, Iowa where she served as the choir director and organist for over 27 years. Barbara was a gifted pianist and had a deep passion for music throughout her life. She lived life to its fullest and was a member of Rebecca Circle, member of PEO, campfire leader, an incredible cook, seamstress, knitter, and gardener. Barbara dearly loved her family and left behind a legacy of love, determination, and great concern for others. Barbara will be greatly missed by all those who were touched by her. She is survived by her children, Beverly Cassidy of Fremont, Michigan; Michael (Jayne) Cassidy of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Georgeanne (Alan) Cassidy-Wescott of Central City, Iowa; her grandchildren, Carrie Cassidy, Meghann Cassidy; Kyle Cassidy-Wescott; her sister, Lucretia Green of Mason City, Iowa; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Beth (Mace) Haughton, Beverly (Walter) Gadau, and Roberta (Col. Harry) Hardy. The family thanks Jane, Naoe, and Helen for being Barbs great friends and support during these last years of her life in Fremont and to Dr. Minasian for his compassionate care. A service to celebrate Barbaras life was held Saturday, January 26 at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, Iowa. Burial has taken place in Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun, Iowa.
