Barbara Betty Hunt, age 86 of Hesperia, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Betty was born on March 24, 1922 in Niederstraubing, West Germany to Lorenz and Ursula Sedlmaier and came to the United States as a World War II bride in June 1947. Betty and Harold married on July 12, 1947 at the St. Michaels Catholic Church and had been married for 60 years. Harold preceded her in death on March 10, 2008. Betty worked on the family farm when she got married and later worked with Harold operating Hunts Implement in Hesperia for many years until Betty and Harold retired. Betty loved music and singing and belonged to several kitchen bands in the area and was also a member of the Community Choir for 20 years. She was well known for her excellent baking and was an active member of Christ The King Catholic Church since the church was built. Betty especially enjoyed the family farm and the beauty of nature that surrounded her. She loved her grandchildren, but her great grandchildren were everything to her. She is survived by her children, Sandra (Frank) Kaminski of Fountain, Michigan and William Hunt of Hesperia; 2 grandchildren, Holly (Jason) McKeown of Hastings and Jerry (Tracy) Hunt of Sand Lake; 4 great-grandchildren, Sam and Lilly McKeown and Taylor and Dylan Hunt; sisters, Liesi Bumgartner of Buch as Erlbach, Germany; Ursula Dill of Hesperia; sister-in-laws, Ethel Perna of Hesperia; Johanna Sedlmaier of Niederstraubing, Germany; Carol Hunt of Hesperia; many nieces and nephews in the United States and Germany. Betty was preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 brothers. VISITATION : Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 5-7:30pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL MASS : Monday, September 15, 2008 at 11am at Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia. SCRIPTURE SERVICES : Sunday at 7:30 at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. GRAVESIDE SERVICES at Stoney Oak at the Hunt Family Farm. INTERMENT : West Hesperia Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Gerber Memorial Health Services Oncology Department for Newaygo County Cares for Cause.
