Barbara M. Longstreet, age 85, of Fremont passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 , at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont . Barbara was born on April 9, 1917 , in Ann Arbor the daughter of John and Nettie Ensing. John preceded her in death on June 16, 1955 and Nettie preceded her in death on October 2, 1976 . She later married Peter Longstreet on September 20, 1940 in Fremont and he preceded her in death January 12, 1995 . She has been a long time resident of Fremont where she was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church where she had been active in the Ladies Aide and taught Sunday School for many years. She had had also worked at the Gerber Products Company for several years. Barbara is survived by her children, Mary (Colonel Mark) Anway of Woodbridge, Virginia and Christy (Ernest) Ball of Muskegon; her grandchildren, Ginger (Charles) Niven of Mesquite, Texas; Julie (Earl Samuel) Potts III of Garland, Texas; Gregory (Cynthia) Anway of Rowlett, Texas; Cynthia (Thomas) Miskowiec of Clarksville, Tennessee; John (Jacquelyn) Ball of Muskegon; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Samantha, Brandon, Kaleb, and Joey Niven of Mesquite, Texas; Ashlee, Shelby and Tyler Potts of Garland, Texas; Christopher and Joseph Anway of Rowlett, Texas; Kelsie Miskowiec of Clarksville, Tennessee; and Jordan Ball of Muskegon; three sisters-in-law, Cora Longstreet of Fremont; Margaret Bultman of Grand Rapids; and Carol Longstreet of Burton Michigan; brotherin-law, Harvey (Marion) Longstreet of Cadillac. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen McClanahan in December Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 11, 2003 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel Fremont Chapel with Pastor Rick Vanderwall of the Second Christian Reformed Church presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery . The family asks that friends consider the Fremont Area Community Foundation for the Newaygo Medical Care Facility or the Second Christian Reformed Church Building Fund for a more lasting memorial.
