Barbara E. Richards, age 84 of Holton, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at Sanctuary at McAuley in Muskegon. Barbara was born on January 10, 1928 in Holton to William R. and Neva (Homan) Syers and married Eugene A. Richards on March 21, 1947 in Muskegon. Eugene preceded her in death on April 10, 2002. Barb had been a school teacher at McCullen Country School and later taught at the Holton Elementary School for 23 years until her retirement. Barb was a member of the Holton United Methodist Church, a member of the Michigan Education Association; Newaygo County Retired School Teachers Association; Michigan Association of Retired School Personal. Barb has been an avid Detroit Tigers Fan for many years. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Becky (David) Baldwin of Muskegon; Jan Witt of Muskegon; Cindy (Hunley) Dufour of Marrero, Louisiana; her grandchildren, William & Leslye Witt; step grandchildren, Steven, Scott, and Brook Dufour; step great grandchild, Emmie Grace Dufour; her sister, Jean Johnson of Fremont; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Lee Witt, Nov. 2010; her sisters, Frances Playter and Vivian Doll Cunningham. In tribute to Barbara for her love of the Detroit Tigers, friends are encouraged to wear their Detroit Tigers clothing to the visitation and funeral services. VISITATION : Friday, September 7, 2012 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 2pm at the Holton United Methodist Church 9530 Holton Duck Lake Road. INTERMENT : Oakwood Cemetery.
