Barbara C. Shephard, age 78 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at her home following a short illness. Barbara was born on October 2, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Mary (Ronan) Piklor and has been a resident of the area since 1961. Barbara had worked at the Gerber Products Company International Division in Fremont for several years and then became a social worker for the Department of Social Services for 16 years until her retirement. After retirement, Barbara worked in several secretarial positions with her children. Barbara enjoyed crossword puzzles, antiques, flower gardening and being outdoors. Barbara is survived by her children, Christy Stewart of Middleville; Carl (Ruth) Schumacher of Belmont; Curt (Patty Jo) Schumacher of Scottville; Cathy McClure of Fremont; Carol (Tom) Pratt of Grant; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; former husband and longtime friend, Oscar Bud Schumacher of Fremont; her sister, Mary Koster of Rockford; nieces and nephews, Kathy Borkowski, Clare Parks and Ken (Barb) Koster.
