Barbara Ann Smith, age 87, of Newaygo passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Corewell Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Barbara was born on September 19, 1935, in White Cloud to Orren Arthur and Lucille Ruby (Sorden) Fowler and married Carl R. Smith on June 1, 1957, at the White Cloud United Methodist Church. She had worked at the Christian Nursing Home in Grand Rapids as a Certified Nurse's Aide and enjoyed crafting, crocheting, reading, making cards, and painting. Barbara is survived by her husband, Carl; children, Alan R. Smith; Patricia Kay (Todd) Baribeau of Jenison; and Kevin Arthur Smith of Baldwin; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Marlene (Jim) Toogood of Big Rapids, Audrey Willis of Big Rapids, and Richard (Joyce) Fowler of Swartz Creek; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Kyle Brian Smith, and brothers and sisters, Harold Fowler, Mildred Burke, Byron Fowler, Marvin Fowler, Verna Jean Cappel, Robert Fowler, Kenneth Fowler, and Larry Fowler. A Memorial Service for Barbara will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the White Cloud United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron White officiating. There will be a time of luncheon and fellowship following the service in the fellowship hall. Interment will be in White Cloud Cemetery.
