Barbara June Thumser, age 91 of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont. Barb was born on May 12, 1932 in Fremont to Wilbur B. and Bessie C. (Cottrill) Castle and graduated from Fremont High School in 1950. Barb later met and married Louis E. Thumser on September 2, 1950 in Fremont and Louis preceded her in death on September 1, 2006. Barb has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where she had been a homemaker and enjoyed gaming and going to the casino, flower gardening at her home, was creative with her hands making baskets, crocheting and knitting. Barb and Louis enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winters and enjoyed playing shuffleboard in Fremont and Florida. Barb is survived by her daughters, Marcia Kay Pierce of Fremont; Debra (Gary) Pell of Fremont; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Eric (Sue) Pell of Howard City and their children – Jared Pell and Aidan Pell; Kristine (Jarek) Kendziorski of Fremont and their daughter, Jessie Kendziorski; Kari Mercer of Fremont and her children, Chase Mercer, Jaxon Mercer, Quinn Mercer; Morgan Jean Thumser of Gladstone; BJ (Danielle) Thumser of Sand Lake and their son, Riley Thumser; Rachael Lea Thumser; great grandson, Luke Nawara, son of grandson, Brian Pell (deceased); nephew, Jim and Peggy Evans and their children, Tim and Jamie. Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Louis on September 1, 2006; her son, Gene "Butch" Thumser on October 29, 2022; and her grandson, Brian Pell on February 6, 2005. VISITATION : Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412. Private graveside services will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Terry Hanson of the Dayton Center Wesleyan Church presiding.
