Basil Elwood Myers, age 78, of Hesperia passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at his home. He was born on July 22, 1922 in Shelby to Harold and Nettie (Smith) Myers and married Mercile Ferne Brickey on September 23, 1942 in Muskegon. Mercile preceded him in death on February 8, 2000. He was a pattern maker at C.W.C. Textron until his retirement and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army. He attended the Hesperia Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his sons, Charles (Pamela) Myers of Hesperia; William "Bill" (Diane) Myers of Hesperia; Donald (Nancy) Myers of Hesperia; Darrel (Kim Lintjer) Myers of Grand Haven; Dick (Cindy) Myers of Hesperia; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Evidene Erdman of Montague: brother-in-law, Raymond (Linda) Brickey of Fremont; sister-in-laws, Doris Smith of Hesperia; Louann Sumner of Hesperia; Joyce (Bob) Wilkinson of Lowell; Evelyn Brickey of Hesperia; Katherine Myers of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death a brother, Gerald Clarion Myers and a grandson, Chuckie Lynn Myers. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 16, 2000 from the Hesperia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kirby Smith presiding with interment in the West Hesperia Cemetery. Friends may consider the Hesperia Presbyterian Church or the Fremont Area Foundation Endowment Fund for the Newaygo County Medical Care Facility Endowment Fund for memorial contributions.
