Bernard R. Reaume, Sr., age 83 of Fremont, formerly of Hesperia, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Bernard was born on December 6, 1927 in Lincoln Park, Michigan to Ernest and Myrtle L. (Curtis) Reaume. Bernard had been a Union Carpenter, Local #100 in Detroit and later in Muskegon for many years until his retirement on January 1, 1988. Bernard had been a former deacon of the Presbyterian Church. He loved to dance, enjoyed baking and also took 1st Place on a few occasions. He made wooden toys for his children and grandchildren. Bernard loved to tinker...the old saying was, if Barney couldnt fix it, no one could. He had volunteered to help teach elementary children how to swim at Fremont High School and always enjoyed helping others. Bernard is survived by his children, Laura (Colin) King of Colon, Michigan; Amy (David) Zielinski of Crosseville, Tennessee; Mickey (Patrick) Conklin of Fremont; Bernard R. (Julie) Reaume of Fremont; Ricky Reaume of White Cloud; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Corrine, Doris, Arvella; Ernest, Leon, Jack and Norman. Private memorial services will be held at a later time following cremation. Burial will take place at the Fremont United Methodist Church Memorial Garden in Fremont. Friends may consider the Alzheimers Association or the Newaygo Medical Care Facility Patient Fund for memorial contributions in memory of Bernard.
