Obituary

Bernard J. Zenk, age 84 of Fremont and White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Bernard was born on January 24, 1930 in Ensley Center to Benjamin and June Viola (Griffis) Zenk and has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo County area. Bernard had worked at the Newaygo County Road Commission for over 30 years until his retirement and then began work at Karnemaat Farms in Fremont for several years. Bernard enjoyed Detroit Tigers baseball and farming. Bernard had attended the Country Bible Church and was also a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the United States Army. Bernard is survived by his children, Ramona (Doug) Wheater of Fremont; Gwen Zenk of Fremont; Steven Zenk of Ofallon, Missouri; Wendy (Bob) Ekkel of Fremont; Rodney Zenk of Fremont; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; his former wife, Betty Zenk of Fremont; his brothers, Erwin (Pat) Zenk of Fremont; Ronald (Shirley) Zenk of Hesperia; Gene Zenk of Howard City; Kenneth (Judy) Zenk of Fremont; several nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and June; his sisters, Doris Gardenour and Mary Cornett; his brother, Arnold Zenk and by his daughter-in-law, Donna Zenk. VISITATION : Monday, January 19, 2015 from 11-12pm at the Country Bible Church with FUNERAL SERVICES at 12pm at the church. INTERMENT : North Ensley Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : To the Zenk family to assist with funeral expenses.
