Bessie Lorene "Rene" Leiter, age 87 of Fremont passed away on Monday December 5, 2022, at Mission Point in Big Rapids. Rene was born on May 27, 1935, in Seebree, Kentucky, to Bennie Franklin and Margaret May (Buttram) Thomas and married Delbert Thomas Leiter "Tom" on February 28, 1975, in Mount Clemens, Michigan. She had worked as an office manager for Consumer Power, retiring in 1979 and had also served as a Nurse's Aide in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Fremont. Rene is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Tom (Cindy) Leiter of Fremont, Tammy (Tim) Stamfli of Washington, and Cindy (Steve) Ryberg of Alaska; grandchildren, Sarah (Dan) Olree, Emma Leiter, Nick (Maryann) Stamfli, Megan (Javy Womeldorff) Stamfli, Daniel (Amber) Peterson, and Tim (Karla) Peterson; great-grandchildren, Riley, Oliver, Henry, Oliver, Alex Joy, Brielle, Elise, Madeleine, and Kai; and half sister Judy Wedding of Indiana. She was preceded by her brothers, Frank Thomas and James Thomas. There will not be any services at this time.
