Betty June Betty Boop Brown, age 78 of Muskegon, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence in Muskegon. Betty was born on June 1, 1933 in Muskegon to Henry and Gertrude (Green) Johnston and later married Madison Brown. Madison preceded her in death in 1986. Betty was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #668 in Muskegon where she had been an active member and served as Auxillary President and was on the National Championship Drill Team for over 30 years. Betty is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Jim) Gasahl of Muskegon; step children, Gloria (John) Crofoot of New Era; Dianna (Marc) Hargis of Kalamazoo; George (Trisha) Brown of Indianapolis; her 7 grandchildren, Danelle, Julie, Matthew, Sarah, Joanna, Heather, and Steven; 7 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Keola Convertini of Newaygo. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, on Thursday, November 17, 2011,at the First Congregational Church in Muskegon with visitation an hour prior to the service. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider th American Diabetes Association or Harbor Hospice. Interment will be in Newaygo Cemetery.
