Betty L. Bushaw, age 92 of Fremont, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont. Betty was born on November 30, 1930 to George and Creta Welkome and later married Robert "Bob" Bushaw on July 30, 1952 in Fremont. Betty and Bob had been married for 61 years when Bob passed away on March 8, 2013. Betty has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where she had worked at Fremont Auto Parts as a bookkeeper and later retired from Gerber Life Insurance where she had been a secretary. Betty had enjoyed spending her winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama where she had been active in the Michigan Club and enjoyed raising her family. Betty also enjoyed her independence which she maintained until her passing. Betty is survived by her sons, Kevin Bushaw of Fremont; Kent (Debra McIntyre) Bushaw of Lyndeboro, New Hampshire; Ken (Trude) Bushaw of Fremont; her grandchildren and great grandchildren – Deborah (Chris) Phillips and their children, Charlie, Isaac, and Pippa; Katie Calderon and her son, Ryan; Bobby (Jessica) Bushaw; Corri Bushaw and her son, Lucas; several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Bushaw; her daughter-in-law, Melyssa G. Bushaw on May 9, 2004; her sisters, Geraldine Tubergen and Evelyn Joslyn; her stepfather, Ford Wyble. Private Graveside services will be held in the spring of 2023 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont where Betty and Bob will be laid to rest.
