Betty Jane (Peterson) Davis, age 86 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Mercy Health – Sherman Campus in Muskegon. Betty was born on January 6, 1933 in Ludington to Emil and Gertrude Ann (Thornell) Peterson and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1952. Betty met and later married Chet Davis on November 29, 1975 and Chet preceded her in death on May 8, 2008. Betty had been a cook at Ferris State University in Big Rapids for 26 years until her retirement in 1987. Betty and Chet had been active in the Croton American Legion Walter L. Howarth Post and Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsman's Post and enjoyed country living and the Michigan outdoors. Betty was always cheerful and willing to lend a hand to all and her lifelong motto was "be kind to animals". She will be missed by her family and friends. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Jane (Russ) Bordine of Big Rapids; her grandchildren, Kelly Marie Bordine and Tristen Bordine; 6 great grandchildren; her twin brother, Bob Peterson of Pampano Beach, Florida. A memorial luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 1pm at the Croton American Legion and interment will take place in the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery with her husband, Chet.
