Betty Lou DeBats, age 81 of Fremont, left this life on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Betty was born on February 10, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Fred and Grace (Freeman) Jansma and was preceded in death by 2 brothers. Betty has been a resident of the Fremont area since 1975. She worked in several secretarial positions and enjoyed knitting, crafts, gardening, music and reading and was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Betty and Martin divided their retirement years between Fremont and Venice, Florida. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Martin of Fremont; her daughter, Jan (Mark) Young of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her son, Roger (Terri) DeBats of Warner Robins, Georgia; her grandson, Jason DeBats. Funeral memorial services were held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Fremont United Methodist Church with Rev. Carolin Spragg presiding with interment in the Fremont United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. Friends may consider the Fremont United Methodist Church Handbell Choir, Fremont Area District Library or charity of the donors choice for memorial contributions in memory of Betty.
