Betty J. Gilbert, age 87 of Greenville, formerly of Hesperia, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at her granddaughters home in Greenville. Betty was born on November 6, 1927 in Crystal Valley to Louis Grant and Bertha Lavina (Hughes) Cole and later married Olin J. Gilbert on May 13, 1960 in Byke, Minnesota. Olin preceded her in death on September 28, 1992. Betty had worked as a production worker at Electrolux and had been a longtime resident of the Hesperia area and will be greatly missed by her family. Betty enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, knitting, camping and fishing and was a member of the Hesperia American Legion Auxillary. Betty is survived by her son, Raymond (Annette) Gilbert of Hesperia; step children, Carlton (Carol Sue) Gilbert of Muskegon; Barbara (Bob) McGruther of Muskegon; Darlene (Louie) Jasick of Muskegon; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her brothers, James Cole of Muskegon; David (Twila) Cole of Twin Lake; Andrew Cole; her sisters, Viola Rameau of Muskegon; many nieces, nephews. Betty was preceded in death by children, Eric VanDyke, Brian VanDyke, Gary VanDyke, Wendy Cazier; her brothers; Richard Cole; William Cole; her sisters, Ida Barsley; Leona Cole; and her grandson, Thomas Jasick.
