The world has lost a beloved woman, Betty Jahr, 84, of Fremont, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont. She will be greatly missed as she takes her journey on the "Yellow Brick Road". She is survived by her three children, James Jahr, Debora Ruffe, and Joseph Jahr, 8 grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren, who made up the entirety of her world, "enough to make a baseball team" as she would often say. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Jahr, and both her parents. She was an avid baker, gardener, bowler, and fisherman who loved anything outdoors, especially if it was with her family. A private service will be held in February at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with interment in the Sherman Township Cemetery in the spring of 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer of 2023 at the Sherman Township Hall with dates and times to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Spectrum Health Foundation for Spectrum Health Hospice in memory of Betty.
