Bonnie Lou Thomas, age 69 of Newaygo, passed away Thursday, August 02, 2012 due to complications after courageously battling brain cancer for several years. Bonnie passed peacefully with her Lord and Savior with her family by her side at her home in Newaygo. Bonnie was born on March 24, 1943 in Austin, Texas to Jack and Ruby Pearl (Blue) Edwards and later married Stan Thomas on August 31, 1963 at the Newaygo United Methodist Church. Bonnie had been a LPN at the Meadows, Newaygo Medical Care Facility and as a private nurse in West Michigan for several years until her retirement. Bonnie had enjoyed horses and horseback riding, traveling and following the activities of her daughters. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Stan of Newaygo; daughter, Jaclyn (Eric) Nickel and children, Ryan, Kyle, and Tyler of Massanutten, Virginia; daughter, Jodi (John) Bull of Newaygo; daughter, Keryl (Neil) Geers and children, Breanna and Kaela Grimard and step children, Casey, Catherine, and Chase Geers of Grant; daughter, Erica (Brian) Boyd and children, Shelby and Jackson of Newaygo; her great grandson, Nash Grimard. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ruby Edwards. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 4:00 pm the Newaygo United Methodist Church with a time of gathering 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice for memorial contributions in memory of Bonnie.
