Brad Lee Winchel, age 53 of Fremont, passed away peacefully at his home. Brad was born on April 30, 1967 in Fremont to Allen C. and Lorraine (Fry) Winchel and graduated from Fremont High School in 1985. Brad married Joyce Page on April 13, 1984 in Fremont. Brad had been the founder and co-owner of Winchel Irrigation in Grand Rapids and later founded Winchel Lawn Sprinkling in Fremont which he operated for several years until his retirement. Brad had rebuilt and modified a 1929 Ford Model A Sedan which he took great pride in, enjoyed Nascar racing, driving his tractor around his property and listening to music. Brad however, found the greatest joy in his grandchildren and following their activities.
Brad is survived by his wife, Joyce of Fremont; his children, Elizabeth (Justin) Martin of Fremont; Zachary (Mickele Nichols) Winchel of Grand Rapids; his grandchildren, Trent Buitendorp, Roxy Martin, and Corbin Martin; his mother, Lorraine Winchel of Fremont; his brothers, Len (Lisa) Winchel of Hudsonville; Greg (Amy) Winchel of Jenison; several nieces and nephews. Brad was preceded in death by his father, Allen C. Winchel.
Following Brad's wishes, cremation has taken place and private services will be held. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Friends may consider memorial contributions to Gerber Hospital Cares for Cause (check payable to Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Hospital Foundation Memo line: Cares for a Cause) for cancer and hematology patient care at Specialty Services at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial in Fremont.
