Brenda Rose Wever, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the Corewell Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 86. Born on February 5, 1939, in Fremont, Brenda's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her passion for her community, and her love of learning and creativity.
Brenda's journey through life was shared with her beloved husband of 66 years, Dale Wever, with whom she married on March 6, 1959 and together, built a family and a legacy of love. Together, they raised their children, Alan (Julie) Wever and Teresa Pillars, and rejoiced in the growth of their family tree, which included their grandchildren, Elizabeth (James Burton) Wever, Josh Wever, and Sarah (Zach) Feenstra. Brenda was a sister to Merla Bytwerk and Richard (Sharon) Cook, and she was lovingly regarded by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives who will continue to cherish her memory.
Brenda's professional life was characterized by her 30-year tenure with the Fremont Public Library, where she was not just a librarian but a beacon of knowledge and a familiar, friendly face to all who entered. Her passion for history led her to play an instrumental role in the creation and development of the Fremont Library Local History Room, ensuring that the stories of her beloved town would be preserved for future generations.
Her interests were as rich and varied as her contributions to the community. Brenda was an avid quilter, creating beautiful works of art that warmed the homes and hearts of those she loved. Her family will fondly remember the smells and tastes of her cooking that made their house a home. Brenda's adventurous spirit shone through in her travels with Noble Tours and Orchard View Tours and she also found great joy in researching her family history and genealogy.
Brenda's life was one of vibrant engagement, and her warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on those around her. Though she was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Estella Cook, her sister Mona Cook, and her treasured son-in-law Jim Pillars, her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
