Bruce E. Lindsay, age 78 of Hesperia, passed away Friday, August 05, 2016 at his home. Bruce was born on February 18, 1938 in Dayton Township to Lorne and Millie (Abel) Lindsay and attended Fremont High School until he joined the United States Navy where he served during the post Korean era. After his discharge, Bruce returned to the Hesperia area and married Kathleen Clark on December 10, 1957 in Grant. Bruce started work at Howmet Corporation and was transferred to the new Howmet plant in Hampton, Virginia in 1975 where he remained until his retirement in 1993. Bruce returned to the Hesperia area in 1993 where he was a Master Welder and Welding Consultant for many years. Bruce enjoyed gardening, fishing, driving on 2 tracks around the area, was Mr. Fix It to many, enjoyed customizing and working on garden tractors and treasured time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bruce is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen of Hesperia; his grandsons, Lorance Tony (special friend, Alisha Anderson) Butler of Newaygo; Jason (Danielle) Butler of Hesperia; his great grandchildren, Anthony Butler, Garrett Butler, and Daniel Butler; his sisters and brothers, Beatrice Stover of Alma; Adrian (Jane) Lindsay of Howard City; Mildred (Elwin) Shell of Sparta; several nieces, nephews; sister-in-law, Eileen Nelson and 2 brothers-in-laws, Jim (Nila) Clark; Ted (Barbara) Clark. Bruce was preceded in death by his daughter, Tanya Ann Montegna-Butler on May 17, 2012 and by an infant son, Todd J. Lindsay in 1961. VISITATION : Friday, August 12, 2016 from 12:30-2pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. MEMORIAL SERVICES with MILITARY RITES : Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : West Hesperia Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Newaygo County Career-Tech Center Scholarship Fund for the welding department at the Fremont Area Community Foundation.
