Bruce R. Peterson, age 73 of Newaygo, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Mercy Health - St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Bruce was born on April 22, 1946 in Newaygo to Allen L. and Keola (Brown) Peterson Sr. and graduated from Newaygo High School in 1964. Bruce later graduated from Davenport College in 1966. Bruce had worked various occupations throughout his lifetime including logistics for CBC Labs, ServiceMaster and Eagle Ottawa Leather. Had been an instructor at Baker College – Fremont Campus where he taught business classes, commercial driving classes and was the evening co-administrator for Baker College at the Fremont campus until his retirement. Bruce then started work at Fremont Ace Hardware in Fremont where he worked mainly in the evening hours. Bruce married Nancy Teerman on July 9, 2006 in Newaygo and had been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, working on computers, remodeling his home, and the Michigan outdoors. Bruce was a member of the Family of God Community Church in Newaygo. Bruce is survived by his wife, Nancy of Newaygo; his children, grandchildren and great grandchild – daughter - Dawn Haines of Lowell; daughter - Michaele (Mark) Beaton of Hudsonville; son - Wayne Haines of Belding and his daughters - granddaughter, Madeleine and granddaughter, Alexis Haines; daughter - Heather (Matt) Kooistra of Fremont and her children and grandson - granddaughter, Makayla (Jordan Brandt) Borgman and great grandson, Kaxton, grandson, Devin Poll, granddaughter, Addison Kooistra; son – Brent (Jill) Borgman of Newaygo and his son, grandson, Christopher Borgman. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Allen Peterson Sr.; his mother, Keola Convertini; and his brother, Allen "Pete" Peterson Jr..
